The Faculty of Law Juris Doctor Scholarship for Indigenous Students PGCE1007

Funded by the UNSW Sydney, this scholarship is specifically launched for students of indigenous backgrounds. It aims to help them undertake the Juris Doctor Program at UNSW. These students must have a high academic record.

Eligibility

The applicants must meet the conditions mentioned as follows.

  1. The candidate has to be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  2. The residency of the person has to be Australian or should be an Australian Permanent Resident.
  3. Must plan to undertake the Juris Doctor Program at UNSW in Term 1, 2024.

Minimum Value: $ 10,000 available for Duration of Program

Registration Process

Documents Required

To prove that you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander the following documents have to be uploaded to support your claim.

  1. A letter of “Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent” issued by an Indigenous Community Organization with the stamp of the organization’s common seal of certification.

    Or
  2. A Statutory Declaration. It is a legally binding document that demonstrates your self-identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Person. This should also be accompanied by any one of the following.
    • Proof that the person is an Abstudy Recipient.
    • Proof of genealogy, such as birth records or an official family tree.
    • A letter from an Aboriginal Liaison Officer or an Indigenous organization that recognizes the person as an Indigenous person. This must contain the organization’s letterhead.
    • A letter from a school that recognizes you as an Indigenous student.
