- A letter of “Confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent” issued by an Indigenous Community Organization with the stamp of the organization’s common seal of certification.
Or - A Statutory Declaration. It is a legally binding document that demonstrates your self-identification as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Person. This should also be accompanied by any one of the following.
- Proof that the person is an Abstudy Recipient.
- Proof of genealogy, such as birth records or an official family tree.
- A letter from an Aboriginal Liaison Officer or an Indigenous organization that recognizes the person as an Indigenous person. This must contain the organization’s letterhead.
- A letter from a school that recognizes you as an Indigenous student.
