This discussion paper considers how research methods
could be taught in a doctoral computing education
research course. We consider the challenges to course
planning entailed by the nature of CER as a field, as well
as the diversity of the students' backgrounds and its
consequences for the course. We describe the research
methods course that was given in spring 2007 at Helsinki
University of the Technology, and some lessons learned
from that course. Finally, we set some questions to
stimulate a discussion. |
